How Much Does It Cost to Send Money Internationally?

Money in Minutes · 23 July 2026

When people ask "how much does it cost to send money abroad," they're usually thinking of one number. In reality, there are typically two costs stacked together.

1. The transfer fee

This is what the provider charges you to process the transfer. It might be a flat fee, a percentage of the amount, or a mix of both depending on how much you're sending.

With Money in Minutes, this part is simple: transfers of €100 or less have a flat €6 fee, and transfers above €100 are charged 6%. You can see worked examples on our fees page.

2. The exchange rate

If you're sending one currency and your recipient is receiving another, there's a conversion involved — and the rate applied affects how much they actually get. This is where costs can hide: a provider might advertise "no fees" while quietly applying a worse exchange rate.

What to actually compare

  • The fee, stated clearly, before you send
  • Whether the exchange rate is shown to you before you commit
  • How much your recipient will actually receive, not just how much you're paying

We don't publish live exchange rates on this page, because rates move and we don't want to show you something outdated. Instead, we confirm the rate directly with you before you send, alongside the fee, so you know exactly what to expect.
