How to Send Money from France to Burundi

Money in Minutes · 9 July 2026

If you're living in France and regularly sending money home to Burundi, you've probably run into the same frustrations: slow bank wires, unclear fees, and no one to ask when something looks wrong.

What you'll typically need

  • Your recipient's full name, as it appears on their ID
  • Their phone number and preferred way to receive the money (for example, Lumicash, Lumitel, or bank transfer)
  • The amount you want to send, in euros

What the process looks like

  1. Message us on WhatsApp, or start your transfer on the send money page, with your amount and how your recipient wants to receive it.
  2. We confirm the fee upfront — for transfers up to €100 it's a flat €6, and 6% above that. You can see exact examples on our fees page.
  3. You make your payment.
  4. We process the transfer and let you know once your recipient has received it.

A note on exchange rates

Because Burundi uses the Burundian Franc (BIF) and France uses the Euro, every transfer involves a currency exchange. The rate applied can vary day to day, so we confirm it with you directly before you send, rather than publishing a rate that might be outdated by the time you pay.
